Highlights from EWTEC 2013
Technical Tour

A technical visit was organized in connection with the EWTEC 2013 conference in Aalborg. It took place Friday 6th of September and it was a success with over 60 participants from 15 countries and great weather.

The trip first stop was the Østerild national test center for large wind turbines where the participants could appreciate the size of two Siemens turbines (4 and 6 MW) and one Vestas turbine (3.3 MW).

The journey continued to Hanstholm where the WaveStar prototype was situated. There, everybody had the chance of having a guided tour of the prototype from the WaveStar staff. It included a visit of the control room, the inside of the machine and the top platform.

The participants were welcomed at the headquarters of The Danish Wave Energy Center where its director, Hans Jørgen Brødersen, presented the center and refreshments were served. Per Resen, a Danish wave energy developer, then presented the concept behind Resen Waves to the participants.

The last stop of the day was the Nordic Folkecenter where a nice lunch was served with locally brewed beers and the participants could enjoy the lovely view over the Nissum Bay, where the Nissum Bredning wave energy test site is situated.

After lunch, Jan Peckolt from Nemos presented the work they have accomplished during the access period at the Nissum Bredning test site during the summer 2013 granted through the FP7 MaRINET program.

Thanks to all the participants for a great day!
